General Dynamics-Building 603

In association with Deems Lewis McKinley, San Diego, CA

As project manager for Deems Lewis McKinley of San Diego, Ca., this project, by its technical complexity and size, presented a new dimension of skill for the seven-team members. General Dynamics, a defense manufacturing giant, unveiled a technical and detailed program, implementing the latest technology in computer manufacturing and safeguards. The building’s 246,000 square feet consists primarily of both private and open office space at the second and third levels, with the first level set aside for manufacturing, computer research and design, and employee services. The exterior, with its fiberglass curtain wall panels and greylight glazing, serves to continue the language of other structures within the complex. In addition, seismic detailing also played a major part in this design.
